Peter Pan and Wendy - J.M. Barrie, Gwynedd Hudson (illustrator) C. 1930 - Hodder & Stoughton Ltd., London - First Hudson illustrated edition “Do you believe in Fairies?”

A finely bound large and magically illustrated edition of Peter Pan.

Gwynedd M. Hudson brings both the characters and the text to life, with twenty one full page colour illustrations and numerous additional illustrations and decorations throughout.
Gwynedd Hudson [1909-1935] studied at Brighton School of Art and during her short life became a painter of figure studies, produced posters for the Underground Group [The London Underground], as well as illustrating children’s books, including Peter Pan and Wendy, and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Her illustrations, like Arthur Rackham's, were both full in colour or simpler silhouettes, and although very little is known of the artist, she was nevertheless a contemporary of Mable Lucy Atwell, Lucy Kemp Welsh and Virginia Sterrett during the golden age of Edwardian gift books. Her modest but exquisite output remains highly desirable today.
