All the details, including the tragic Paris-Madrid ‘Race to the Death’ of 1903, the international Gordon-Bennett race of 1903 representing Great Britain in a Napier, the first British team to ever paint their cars green, where his car overturned and he lifted up the wrecked chassis so the crowd could pull his mechanic out before passing out himself, the following years race in Homburg, the first motor tricycle race in the USA.
  Charles Jarrott OBE, [1877-1944] - England's first successful racing motorist and his exploits are legendary. He entered his first serious motor race, the Berlin-Paris of 1901, piloting a dark green Panhard into 10th place. Combined with his second place in the following years Circuit du Nord, he then won in great style, the Circuit des Ardennes, against such notable opponents as Camille Jenatzy, Fernard Gabriel and Count Eliot Zborowski, Father of Louis who was most notably associated with Chitty Bang Bang. He took part in motorcycle races and the first motor tricycle race in the USA. After service with the Royal Flying Corps during WW1, he became secretary of The Royal Society of St George. Married to the Countess of Rosslyn.
