The basis for two silent films, ‘
The Gray Ghost’ directed by Stuart Paton in 1917, and ‘Loot’ directed by William C. Dowell in 1919 (in which the ‘Gray Ghost’ becomes the ‘Shadow’).

In publisher’s brown cloth, spine and upper board blocked in burgundy and lettered in white, all edges trimmed pictorial endpapers illustrated by Bracker.
