Sometimes referred to as the
Killer Bible for its typographical error in Mark 7, verse 27: ‘Let the children be killed’ rather than ‘filled’.

Provenance: With detailed 19th-century genealogical entries relating to the Gouthwaite family (Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Liverpool), and the armourial bookplate of S. Hemingway to upper pastedowns.
  James Fittler (1758-1835), was an esteemed British engraver of portraits and landscapes, who served as marine engraver to King George III. He produced illustrations for the Boydell Shakespeare and Dibdin's Aedes Althorpinae.

Two large thick octavo volumes (binding size 25.7x17.6cm), pp. Without pagination.
  Bound in contemporary full red calf, spines smooth with gilt ruling lettering and decoration, panels with multiple gilt filet and decorated borders, inner gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt, additional blank leaves at front of each volume.   Condition: Very good, some toning, occasional spotting mostly to plates, offsetting and light marginal damp staining, in very good binding, some rubbing and wear to corners and spine ends, surface wear to panels.   Ref: 111322   Price: HK$ 11,000
