  Provenance: Sir Reader William Bullard KCB KCMG CIE [1885-1976], a legendary figures of British imperialism in the Middle East. He had two spells of duty in Arabia, first as British Consul in Jeddah between 1923 and 1925 and then as Minister there between 1936 and 1939. He thus saw the last years of King Hussein of the Hejaz and some of the great days of King Abdul Aziz ibn Saud. During this time he crossed with T. E. Lawrence, Flecker, Philby, and Bertram Thomas (whose drafts of Arabia Felix were sent to him and Lawrence for their comments and amendments).
