Elliott Blaine Henderson’s ninth collection of African-American poetry.
Amongst the poems are such titles as ‘Cispus Attucks’, ‘De Bes’ State in de Lan’’, ‘A Plantation “Step-erbout”’, ‘Some Negro Characteristics’; ‘A Retrospection’, and ‘Sich an Itchin’ in Mah Shin’. African American Elliott Blaine Henderson [1877-1944] was born in Springfield, Ohio (1877), he was a contemporary of Paul Laurence Dunbar. A prolific poet, Henderson's works were mostly 'dialectic' and capture a rich African American dialect and heritage.
Thin octavo (book size 20.6x14.4cm), pp[2] 54. In original burgundy cloth, front board lettered in gilt. Condition: Near fine, small patch of rubbing to head of spine, and a little to boards and corners, offsetting to endpapers. Ref: 110707 Price: HK$ 1,200
