First trade edition in English of Von Sacher-Masoch’s classic novel. Although not approved of by Sacher-Masoch, the terms Masochism and Sadomasochism (together with the Marquis de Sade) are derived from his name.

Several small private press English translations where published prior to this, including an edition of 350 copies in Paris [1902], 500 copies in Boston in 1925], and a small print run in New York [1928].
Octavo (book size 22x15cm), pp. 140 [6]. In publisher’s light olive beige cloth boards, spine lettered in burgundy. Dust jacket priced ‘$2.00’ to upper corner of front flap, all flap corners with publisher's decorative trim. Condition: Near fine, light bumping to spine ends, and fading to spine, in very good dust jacket, wear and some loss to spine ends, toned, one or two small indents., Ref: 112338 Price: HK$ 3,000
