A superb first edition of E.B. White’s classic children’s tale, the story of a pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a barn spider named Charlotte A. Cavatica. Illustrated throughout with Garth Williams’ delightful drawings.
Housed in a bespoke felt-lined green and red clamshell case, with the image of Fern, Wilbur, and Charlotte raised on the upper cover, and red spine label lettered in gilt. Elwyn Brooks (E.B.) White (1899-1985) was an American writer, best known as the co-author of English language style guide, The Elements of Style, as well his children’s books. He was a contributing writer to The New Yorker, and a columnist for Harper’s magazine.
Garth Montgomery Williams (1912-1996) was an American artist, prominent during the post-war era as an illustrator of children’s books. In addition to his famed collaborations with author E.B. White, Williams’ friendly baby animal drawings populated many of the Golden Books series.
