Containing 240 beautiful full page colour chromolithograph plates of country houses printed by Benjamin Fawcett from coloured wood blocks from drawings by Alexander Lydon.

Each illustration is accompanied by a fascinating description and history of the house and its owners.
  This is the complete six volume set of colour plates, without the additional ‘vanity’ volume printed later which contained facsimiles of the subscribers signatures, and no additional colour plates.

Six quarto volumes (book size 28.3x23cm), pp. iv 90 [2], iv 80; iv 80; iv 82; iv 80; iv 88. In publishers intricately decorated brick red cloth, spines lettered and decorated in gilt, front boards decorated and lettered in gilt and black, rear boards decorated in blind, all edges in gilt, yellow coated endpapers.
